Who will lead your class?

Me, Lee-ann Cordingley 👋🏼

Since 2015 I have taught more than 1400 hours of yoga classes and as an experienced registered yoga teacher I have a whole-person approach to yoga. I guide poses for people that feel comfortable and accessible in their own body and whilst I take my yoga very seriously, I like to inject an element of fun.

I have a personal and professional interest in anatomy & physiology and in nervous system responses. I know how great your body is and I make it a mission to have you feeling valued, relaxed, strong and empowered. If you're curious, you can learn a bit more about me here.

What You'll Need:

  • Your yoga mat + your curiosity.

  • Simple props such as blocks, yoga strap and blanket.

  • Comfortable clothes that allow your ease of movement

NB Please note that part of the venue is on the first floor and there is no lift access.

If this poses a problem for you, please do get in touch.

Check out the FAQ's below but if there's anything you need to know that I've not covered, please email me - if you have a question, other people will want to know the answer too!

Will you join us? Because I really would love to practice with you.

FAQ's

I don't have the right props

No problem!

Props such as blocks or straps can be replaced with simple household items such as a sturdy book, blanket or a belt. This blog Props; What Do I Do With Them? might give you a bit of an understanding.

The only key piece of equipment you need is a good quality mat which will provide cushioning for your knees etc and will prevent slipping. I don't have any spare mats but you can pick them up in most supermarkets easily and cheaply enough, but I am able to source really good, studio-quality ones and pass on my teachers discount. Do get in touch if I can help.

I'm not sure if I can physically practice

Ahead of your first practice with me, you will be prompted to complete an online Health Declaration form to confirm you are fit and able to practice.

You should know that I have enjoyed a good few hundred hours of training and development as my commitment to helping you find comfort in poses. I am also qualified to teach pre- and post-natal yoga, affording me the knowledge to offer different options to those who have physical concerns around their back, hips or body shapes.

All of that to say; please be assured that in any yoga class, I encourage you to listen to your own body and if you feel in anyway injured or unwell, let me know.

What should I wear

Anything that allows you comfort and freedom of movement - leggings or shorts with a tshirt or vest and practice barefoot. This is to ensure you have adequate grip - if you prefer to wear socks, please only wear socks with grips to ensure you do not slip.

Most people tend to wear layers because as you move you will generate heat and when coming to stillness, your temperature might decrease a degree or two. I always recommend bringing a hoodie, socks or a blanket for periods of meditation and the final relaxation pose - you can get super-comfy!

I'm a bit conscious that everyone will look at me

Please be assured in the nicest possible way that no-body really gives two hoots.

My job in the class is to help direct your attention to yourself and to ignore everyone else in the room - yes, even me!

Yoga teaches us so very many wonderful things, one of which is how warm and welcoming yogis are. In all my years of teaching, I've never been aware of anyone in the class being judge-y towards other people and quite frankly, that's not the environment I want to cultivate in any of my groups - so knobheads tend to stay away! 😜

How do I get to the venue?

Brewhouse & Kitchen is a beautiful venue with ample free parking for more than 40 cars.

If you don't drive, it is right on the bank of the River Trent on Trent Bridge, which is a 15min walk from Nottingham train station. There are multiple buses that stop right outside.

If you are planning to drive and don't mind car-sharing or would like to car-share with another person, let me know and I can put you in touch.

What's the set-up with the brunch?

When you book, you will be prompted to choose your brunch from the selection, and you will also have a choice of tea, coffee or soft drink.

On arrival, our practice will take part in the function room upstairs. The staircase is outside and beside the main entrance which faces the river. The function room has private toilets. If you have any accessibility issues, please do let me know. You should know there is no lift in the venue - we may be able to use a downstairs area but I will need to arrange this with the venue in plenty of time.

Our practice will begin at 9:30 (please arrive in plenty of time to get settled).

We'll take a 90min practice, which will be structured in a relaxed way that you can experience different elements of yoga. There will be a water station available all throughout and at the end of the session, we'll go downstairs to the main area where our food will be served.

Included with your meal is your choice of tea, coffee or soft drink. You are able to order extra drinks at the bar separately.

You can feel very welcome to sit with the group or on your own if you'd prefer a bit more reflection time.

I've never done yoga before, can I join in?

Absolutely!

This will be as perfect for you as it will be for returners to yoga. The practice will be gentle and kind and we'll look at a few different elements of yoga, not just the physical poses. The aim is for you to feel relaxed, empowered and to learn something wonderful that can help you deal with life's little challenges. I'll even go so far as to say that you might even have a giggle or make a new friend in the local area - but don't tell the uber serious yogi's* 🤭

Taking a look around my blog will be a great starting point - in particular What's It Really Like In A Yoga Class , 6 Things You Shouldn't Worry About At A Yoga Class and So, You Thought It Was Just Stretching?, but do have a poke around. You are also welcome to download and use my mini-course, Ease Into Yoga, which is completely free.

(* BTW I do take my yoga very seriously indeed, but I like to have a bit of fun with it, otherwise, what's the point?)

What is your refund policy?

I mean, I really, really hope you don't need to cancel but I understand life gets life-y....

Cancellations before Tuesday 17th September → Refunds are available, minus a small admin fee (£2) to cover non-refundable payment processing charges.

Cancellations after Wednesday 18th September → Tickets are non-refundable, as meals will already have been pre-ordered with the venue.

Transfers → If you can’t make it, and would like to pass your ticket on to a friend. Just let me know their name and meal choice before the event.

No-shows on the day → Tickets are non-refundable if you don’t attend.

If I need to cancel the event (due to illness or a venue issue), you will receive a full refund including fees.

Beth,

Hucknall, Nottingham

I've been attending Lee-ann's yoga classes in Hucknall for over 2 years now and I love it, it's genuinely the highlight of my week. Lee-ann is so welcoming and helpful when it comes to getting into poses correctly, I feel like I can ask questions during the class which I so appreciate.

Helen,

Nottingham

As with everything Lee-ann does, her sunny spirit and genuine care about everyone in her class make for a lovely
experience. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to deepen their practice.

Caroline,

Yoga Practitioner & Therapeutic Mentor

I love coming to practice with Lee-Ann and taking part in the beautiful offerings of yoga asana, meditation, mantra and the sound baths. No matter how I am feeling when I arrive I always feel welcome and like we all belong, it is a joy to practice together, the energy is beautiful.
